Uganda Sustainable Tourism – Empowering Livelihoods.

In collaboration with Makerere University, this project focused on promoting sustainable rural development in Uganda by leveraging tourism as an essential tool for poverty reduction and environmental conservation.

Working closely with the Government of Uganda, private enterprises, NGOs, and community organizations, the initiative prioritized human resource capacity building, with a particular emphasis on empowering rural women.

A cornerstone achievement of the project was the establishment of a Master's program in Wildlife Tourism and Biodiversity Conservation at Makerere University. This program continues to foster local expertise in sustainable tourism and conservation.

Additionally, the initiative supported the development of three community-based tourism enterprises that continue to thrive, providing economic opportunities and supporting environmental stewardship in rural communities.
